Shilajit has been found in the high mountains of the Himalaya, Russia, Siberia, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. Momiji (means ‘saving body’ or ‘protecting organism’) as in shilajit found in the Altai mountains of Russia has also been called as the ‘lungs of the mountains’ by some people. Russian bodybuilders used momijo to build endurance strength and muscle. The Burmese call it Kao-tui which implies ‘blood of the mountains’ and the Tibetans call it brag-shun meaning ‘juice of rock’.
