The unique flavor of Darjeeling Oolong Tea comes from genetic mix of the Chinese tea with Indian terroir. The complexities of climate, harvesting and processing play an important role too. It's lighter and less astringent than most black teas, but more layered and complex than most greens.

The difference in black, oolong and green tea leaves is what they derive from tea fermentation. Flavonoids in the tea leaves combine with oxygen during the fermentation process. Darjeeling oolongs are semi-fermented.

Note: We are also able to supply Black and Green Darjeeling Oolong Teas from different small teas estates in Darjeeling and Siliguri regions.

Benefits

  • Relaxing and refreshing
  • May help in weightloss
  • Good for oral, heart and mental health

Brewing/Preparation

  1. Rinse the cup or teapot with hot water to warm it.
  2. Put 2.5 g of tea leaves in the infuser in the cup/teapot. Rinse it in 20-30 seconds.
  3. Add  hot water 150-200ml at 80-85 degrees celsius to the wet tea leaves in the infuser
  4. Steep for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove infuser.
  6. Your tea is ready to serve and drink.
  7. If you steep it second time, leave it to brew for 2.5 or 3 minutes.
  8. Oolong tea is also often consumed in the West as an iced tea. Follow these same hot tea brewing techniques and then allow the tea to cool before serving.

Note: What happens if you brew oolong tea too long? Steeping your tea longer than the recommended times will make it bitter. Tea leaves start to release tannins when left in hot water too long and this results in a bitter-tasting tea.
