Silver Needle -White tea is made from young tea buds. It is plucked just before the leaf opens on the stem and is air-dried to lock in its colour and flavour. It has both caffeine and healthy polyphenols.

 Processing of tea leaves is the simplest in the case of making White tea. This tea demands perfection in brewing time, temperature, the right teapot or brewing cup and other conditions. There is no room for any error! A little carelessness on the part of the farmer can also deplete the quality. Please buy from ethically sourced tea estates.

Tender and fleshy new flower buds are picked only 2 days a year in early Spring.The Silver Needle (Bai Hao Yin Zhen) is referred to as the champagne of White Tea. Our Silver Needle-White tea is from Yunnan, and has been withered to lose moisture, under the sun. This Silver Needle (Bao Hao) has the characteristic taste of Yunnan- more toasy, moisturising, tropical and mostly floral. However, the lack of chlorophyll, gives it, its whitish color. Pure White Tea from Yunnan is also available with us.

Darjeeling Silver Needle-White tea, is also plucked in spring, and is famous for its Woody taste. It has a Liquor taste which is smooth and has silky mouthfeel to it. Towards the end the sweet floral notes linger on. Delicate-bodied, farmers try to pick more of the large buds to get its full flavour. Silver Needle-White tea can be steeped between 3-5 minutes.

 Brewing/ Preparing Silver Needle White Tea - Western Style

1. Preheat both your teapot, brewing cup and tasting bowl with hot water.

2. Put 1 full teaspoon of tea leaves in the teapot or brew cup. 

3. Pour hot water onto the leaves in the teapot or your brewing cup. 

4. Place the lid on the brewing cup and let the tea steep for 3 minutes.

Note 1: Avoid adding milk or sugar to enjoy the natural flavours and aroma.
